At the center of every healthy organization is a clear sense of purpose. Effective governance, leadership, planning, accountability, and resource development all exist to support that purpose.
Governance • Leadership • Strategic Planning • Organizational Resilience
Strong organizations require more than good intentions. They require effective governance, thoughtful leadership, sound policies, and a clear understanding of roles and responsibilities.
For more than thirty years, I have worked with nonprofit organizations as an attorney, consultant, board member, executive director, founder, trainer, and advisor. My experience includes service to organizations throughout the United States and Australia, ranging from small volunteer-led organizations to complex institutions facing significant governance and operational challenges.
My work has included governance consulting for service organizations, membership organizations, guilds, charitable organizations, and religious institutions. Religious organizations often face unique governance, leadership, and accountability issues, and I have extensive experience assisting governing bodies in navigating those challenges.
I most frequently work with governing bodies, including boards of directors, boards of administration, boards of elders, trustees, and similar leadership structures. I also provide consulting services directly to executive directors and senior organizational leaders.

Strategic Planning and Retreat Facilitation
Organizations often benefit from dedicated time to evaluate priorities, assess risks, and plan for the future.

These engagements are designed to help leadership teams identify priorities, strengthen governance practices, and develop practical plans for future success.
Organizational Challenges and Crisis Response

Over the course of my career, I have assisted organizations facing significant governance and operational challenges, including embezzlement, financial irregularities, leadership conflicts, personnel crises, and organizational restructuring. My experience as both an attorney and consultant allows me to help organizations evaluate difficult situations, clarify responsibilities, and develop practical paths forward.

This breadth of experience allows me to provide practical guidance informed by both governance principles and real-world organizational experience.
A Practical Perspective
My approach is informed not only by legal training, but also by decades of direct nonprofit experience. Having served on nonprofit boards, worked as an executive director, and helped establish organizations that continue to serve their communities decades later, I understand the realities faced by volunteer leaders, board members, executives, and organizational stakeholders.
Effective governance is not simply about compliance. It is about creating structures, practices, and relationships that allow organizations to fulfill their missions responsibly and sustainably.
